Opinion 

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was spectacular! It had twists, turns, challenges and best of all a mystery! The characters had awesome personalities and were extremely brave. My favorite character had to be Camille because of her spunky attitude and her kindness to others. I was even stumped by Art's identity. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes art and mystery mixed in one great story. Enjoy!

The Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle Treasury by Betty MacDonald (126 pages)

 Summary 

Is your child bad or acting weird? If so, call Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. She may be a widow and a witch, but she's amazing at having cures for children with weird or bad behavior. She is good with children, but not so much with adults.  Each chapter centers around a different child with different behavior problems and their family. Mr. Piggle-Wiggle hid a chest full of cures in the backyard. When the children find the chest, then it becomes Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's main source of magic. 

Opinion 

One of the primary reasons I read this book is that it was one of my mom's childhood favorites, even though she didn't read a lot. In every chapter there is a good, hidden message in how Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle handles each child and their problem. For example, one good message found in the book is if you don't pick up your toys, you won't be able to get around your bedroom. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle is my favorite character because she turns boring chores into fun tasks. She really has a unique perspective on kids and how to get them to learn the better way to be or to do things. If you like witches and cures, then try this one.

Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo (182 pages)

 Summary 

India Opal Buloni and her dad, the Preacher, have just moved to Naomi, Flordia. Opal goes to the Winn-Dixie supermarket for a box of macaroni and cheese, rice and two tomatoes. While shopping, she finds a dog and claims it as her own. When Opal and the dog, whom she names Winn-Dixie, get back to the trailer she introduces her dad to Winn-Dixie. With a dog like Winn-Dixie you never know what might happen next; thus starting an incredible tale. 

Opinion 

This astounding tale has a good message and is hilarious. When Winn-Dixie knocks the store manager down and washes his face with doggie kisses, I laughed out loud as well as when Winn-Dixie smiles a big smile and sneezes. While reading this book, I could visualize Winn-Dixie being my own special dog. If you adore furry friends and fun tales, then try this very unique story.

Mary Poppins: The Complete Collection by P. L Travers (764 pages)

Summary 

Do you like the idea of a magical nanny and exciting adventures? Then Mary Poppins is a good choice for you. When Mary Poppins comes floating in on her parrot umbrella, the Banks children are swept off their feet. From tea parties on the ceiling to jumping into chalk pictures, the Banks children are always having fun. With a nanny so proper, the Banks children will learn from a different perspective to be well mannered.

Opinion 

I absolutely love this book. I like that Mary Poppins is proper and has a lot of patience. Mary Poppins tells exciting stories. When she tells stories, my vivid imagination pictures me as part of her stories. I think her parrot umbrella really adds another piece of mystery and magic to her character. I love that the parrot on the umbrella can actually talk! If you like talking parrots, tea parties on the ceiling and a proper nanny, then try this book and enter Mary Poppins' exciting, magical world.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg ( pages not numbered)

Summary 

One Christmas Eve, a long time ago, a boy lays quietly in his bed listening for Santa's sleigh bells. Suddenly he hears the hissing and squeaking of metal. He finds a train outside of his house. He quickly puts on his robe and makes his way toward the conductor, who punches a hole in his ticket. He boards the train and is taken on the adventure of a lifetime. 

Opinion 

I especially enjoyed reading this book because I actually got to ride on the Polar Express. I usually read this classic every year at Christmas because it always brings the magic of the season to life. It shows that believing in goodness, kindness and love are important. Why not give it a try? I do wish you all a very magical holiday.
