Who Is Jane Goodall? Roberta Edwards (102 pages)

 Summary

Have you ever wondered who taught a gorilla sign language? The answer's Jane Goodall. Jane was born in London, England on April 3, 1934, but soon moved outside of the city. Her parents bought a house in the country because little Jane loved to explore. She read lots books about animals, but was that enough for her? No. She once dug up worms and wanted to sleep with them. Her mother, Vanne, told her that worms had their own homes. Jane was disappointed, but she put the worms back in the garden where she had dug them up. By the time Jane was ten, she knew just what she wanted to be when she grew up. She wanted to research chimps, but traveling to Africa was very expensive. Would Jane give up her dream or would she one day achieve it?

Opinion

I think Jane Goodall is a very unique individual because she is the first person to train a gorilla to use sign language! This book gave many facts about her life and how she researched chimps in the Gombe Stream Game Reserve. This book also also gave  me a different view of Jane. It showed me that she was a very brave and determined person. She stayed true to her dream snd never gave up. If you want to find out more about Jane Goodall, then I recommend reading this book.
