Do you like horses? I do and I find this classic to be an awesome tale of a fantastic horse. This story is told from the horses point of view and I enjoyed the many details described as well as his adventures and the friends he meets along the way. The Secret Zoo: Riddles and Danger by Bryan Chick (284 pages)

Summary

The Action Scouts have been in the Secret Society for a few months. The Desenders have been training the Action Scouts to cross between their world and the Secret Zoo, where they can befriend polar bears, rhinos and flying penguins. This will open up a whole new dangerous and exciting world for the Scouts. When the Sasquatches escape and cause havoc in the Secret Zoo, what will the Scouts and members of the Secret Zoo do?

Opinion

A little magic, a lot of mystery and many unique and interesting characters and animals are all part of this exciting book. I like that each Action Scout character has a different personality and I also like the fact that each Desender character has a different power. My favorite character is Blizzard, the polar bear, because he's mighty and strong. I sometimes think of him as my pet. If you like mighty polar bears, flying penguins and a good mystery mixed in with a little bit of magic, then this story is a perfect match for you.

The Baby-sitters Club: Cluadia and the Phantom Phone Calls by Ann M. Martin (158 pages)

 Summary

Business is booming at the Baby-sitters club. Everything that is until the Phantom Caller, a jewel thief, starts robbing houses twenty miles away from Stoneybrook! The girls, Claudia, Kristy, Mary Ann and Stacey come up with an emergency plan for when the Phantom Caller comes "a ringing." They will be ready no matter what.

Opinion

I like how every Baby-sitters Club book is told by one of the members of the club. As I began reading this story told by Claudia, I was really spooked by the idea of a Phantom Caller. However, as the girls devised a plan of action, I became calmer. I think the time of year for this book is perfect. Halloween is a great time for a burglar to strike!! If you are a fan of Halloween, mysteries and spooky phone calls then this story is perfect!

Nina, Joel and Mrs. Popper have just moved into Hillport. As the two siblings start to explore the basement of their new house, they find two penguin eggs neatly tucked in a corner. The next day they secretly take the eggs to school without their mom knowing. Over the next two days they take the eggs back home, show them to their mother and decide to take the eggs to the Arctic. This becomes an adventure that the family won't forget!

Opinion

This book is very adventurous and exciting. I love Nina's enthusiasm as they travel to the Arctic. It's awesome that the penguins come into the hut during a storm to keep the family warm. If you've read Mr. Popper's Penguins, this book is certainly a great sequel. I think you will enjoy it.
