Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard & Florence Atwater (148 pages)

 Summary

The Poppers, a nice family, live on 432 Proudfoot Avenue. Mr. Popper, a house painter, has painted and papered all the houses in Stillwater. On his first night of winter vacation, he gets a call from Admiral Drake, who is exploring the South Pole, to watch for a surprise. The next day while Bill and Janie Popper are at school and Mrs. Popper is at a meeting, Mr. Popper received a package from Admiral Drake. He found a penguin in the package. This penguin turns the Poppers' world upside down.

Opinion

I think this book is funny and adventurous. I love the fact that as you get more involved with the story, it becomes more and more amusing. As the story progresses instead of having one penguin, why not have twelve? Twelve make a bit of chaos and many, many hilarious antics. This book is worth reading.
